Eccellere 7-Stage Agentic AI Model
Reference model
Seven rungs, from using prompts to running agents. Each stage asks for more structure, more trust and more care than the last.
About this model
A ladder for how a business uses AI, from borrowing ready-made prompts to running purpose-built agents. Each rung rests on the one below: you cannot safely connect AI to your systems before you have written down how the work is done, or let agents run it before there are guardrails and people watching.
Eccellere — the 7-Stage Agentic AI Maturity Model (proprietary) · Eccellere framework
How to read it
- For each stage say where the business is: not started, trying it, in regular use, or embedded in how the work is done — and give one real example.
- Your stage is the highest rung where every rung up to it is in regular use. Anything in use above a gap is a warning: autonomous work resting on no written skills is fragile.
- Aim for the next rung, not the top: name what stands in the way, the two or three moves that would get you there, and who checks the AI’s work as it takes on more.
What this does
Places you on Eccellere's own AI adoption ladder — from prompt marketplace use, through workflows and skill.md methodologies, to fully autonomous agents.
When to use it
